Tenor saxophone colossus Dale Barlow returns to Foundry616 with his own quartet for his last gig at the club for 2017.

He has played alongside New York drummer Joe Farnsworth in his Prime Time Quartet at Foundry616 this year, as well as other projects, but seeing him perform live as a leader, especially in a jazz club setting, is a truly remarkable sonic experience.

Performing with the jazz greats is not new to Barlow. Having established his international profile performing with Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers in the 1980s (resulting in several albums, most featuring Barlow’s own compositions) and recordings with American artists including the Cedar Walton Trio, Dizzy Gillespie and Billy Cobham, as well as performances with Gil Evans Orchestra and Chet Baker, Barlow has received extensive rave reviews globally for his live and recorded work.

Locally, he continues to make an impression as a sophisticated soloist, recording artist and arranger/composer, working with his own bands and alongside others. He has won numerous awards and accolades including: Album of the Year/ Jazz performer of the year/ International Artist of the Year/ Bicentennial Artist of the Year, four Mo Awards and numerous grants and credits for his for his achievements and contribution to the arts In Australia.
